THE WINNER IS:
My name is Audrey, I'm addicted to Crafting & it's my husband's fault! No - really it is! We have been married for almost 22 years now (anniversary is on Nov. 26). When the boys were little I was a stay-at-home mom, loved it, but sometimes it would have been nice to talk to adults too :) One winter we saw an ad in the local paper for a beginner Folkart painting class. Brad suggested that I go - it was only 1 evening a week and he would take care of the boys. Well - I think he's probably regretted that a time or two since. It's amazing how once you start crafting you just can't stop!
Another person who gives me motivation to create is my Grandmother. She will be 94 on New Years day and still knits every day. She is also totally blind. Since I'm the oldest grandchild, I'm probably one of the only ones that can remember Grandma being able to see when we were little. It took many years for her sight to leave, and she adjusted to it amazingly well. Don't think I've ever heard her complain about having no sight, though I'm sure she would love to be able to see the great grandchildren. She learned to knit when she was young and used to make us slippers, scarves and mittens every winter. LOVED those gifts. Last year I brought her some wool to knit me a scarf, didn't keep all the ones she knit for me all those years ago, and wanted to have one. I really hope I can create to some extent when I'm 94 years old.
Since Christmas is my favorite time of year, and I LOVE to paint Christmas/Winter themed items, I opened my Etsy store with that in mind. The Christmas Corner has ornaments, coasters and wall hangings all geared to help you decorate for the winter season and for the Christmas holidays. Will probably have a section devoted to the other 3 seasons, but for now - I'll stick with Christmas & Winter. I only opened the shop in September, so it's not as full as I would like, but there is always next year:)
As for Christmas at our house - The tree usually goes up the last weekend of November, and the presents are wrapped shortly after. We've always put the presents under the tree early, I've just had to do some innovative labeling so the boys didn't know which gifts were theirs :) On Christmas Eve everyone gets to open the small gifts in their stockings. It's amazing that even last Christmas with the boys being 18 & 19, opening the stockings was still exiting. This year will be a special Christmas since our youngest moved 1500 miles away in August and we haven't seen him since. He flies home on the 23rd - we can hardly wait.
